About Las Piñas

Home to unique festivals like Bamboo Organ Festival, Waterlily Festival, Bamboo Festival and Parol (Lantern) Festival, Las Piñas is a city that can live up to any tourist's expectations. Many speculations surround Las Piñas etymology, from two political parties that ruled the town, pineapples, to quarrying of stones and adobe. This shows how evident the resources in the city is having half of its land as residential area and the other half for commercial, industrial and institutional purposes.

A city like no other, Las Piñas has received various citations from being one of the cleanest cities in Metro Manila as well as the first local government unit in the Philippines that has been honored with the prestigious Global 500 Roll of Honour of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). These honors were in recognition of the city's outstanding achievements in the protection and improvement of the environment, and most recently the status "Most Competitive City" in the Philippines, together with Davao City, Makati, Muntinlupa and Marikina.
